SARAC is proud to always be looking for new, engaging ways of spreading awareness and helping our community and service users. This week we were fortunate enough to obtain funding that allowed us to offer alternative therapy, in the form of a tribal drumming session!
We hosted it at the Youth Club at Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre, who are supported by Burton Albion Community Tryst with the ‘Winshill Kicks’ session. We arrived with the drums and 44 children, and it’s safe to say we all had an absolute blast!
There has been a wealth of research highlighting the substantial benefits that drumming can have on mental health. It’s been shown that participating in this activity improves health and wellbeing, encourages teamwork and connection with others, raises self-esteem, provides a sense of personal empowerment, aids stress relief and relaxation, and improves coordination. Needless to say, it’s also brilliant fun for all involved!
A huge thank you to Nikki at Tribal Vibes for a fantastic, memorable session, and to Winshill and BACT for making such a brilliant opportunity possible.
