Become a Member for SARAC’s Board of Trustees

SARAC are welcoming new applications for a board member for their board of trustees. A trustee for SARAC is involved in the decision making and progress of the charity, helping it to develop with the current times and provide the best service possible to victims of sexual violence and/or rape.

SARAC (Sexual Abuse Rape Advice centre) is a charity that offers trauma-based support to people affected by sexual violence and abuse in the Burton and District area. We offer emotional support via our helpline, and face-to-face counselling to people wanting support. SARAC’s values include the mission to help empower people to recover, heal and rebuild their lives from the trauma of sexual violence and/or rape. We strongly believe people should be respected regardless of race, ethnicity, class, age, disability, sexual orientation, and gender. People from all walks of life, no matter their background or experiences, treated compassionately by SARAC counsellors and staff, and we give a voice to people so they can speak their truth.

SARAC are now looking to recruit a board member for the board of trustees. As a charity, we want to continue nurturing a culture that fosters respect and values difference. Therefore, we provide equal and inclusive access to all our services. To continue our work in helping every referral, we want to build on these principles and see them reflected within our teams, so we continue to have all SARAC team members advocating for and supporting equality and inclusivity.

It is essential that our inclusivity principles are further embedded within our recruitment process. We live in an increasingly diverse landscape and welcome applicants from all varying communities within the Burton and District area. We particularly welcome people to apply for our board of trustees’ role from communities such as multi-ethnic identities, LGBTQ+, and those with disabilities/impairments.

If you are interested in becoming a part of our incredible team as a board of trustees member, get in touch with use via staff@sarac.org.uk or call us on 01283 517185. We look forward to hearing from you.
